I am hopelessly addicted to Hitchcock films - the great, the good, the bad and the ugly. One of the reasons I was drawn to his films early on is not so much because of the genre that he is synonymous with but rather because of his portrayal of strong women characters, ones that seemed way ahead of their times. This article does a fantastic job of highlighting that aspect in the context of the society of the time and how his subsequent film(s) followed the social trajectory in the aftermaths of the two World Wars.

The cyclical rise and fall of women’s standing in society through the ages is a fascinating subject that I often wonder about. This article captures a very interesting slice of this phenomenon, and thanks for that!
